Altimese Dees, Publisher, Come Home To Clayton
More than two decades ago, I made Clayton County my home as a young woman in my early twenties—eager to grow, hopeful about the future, and ready to build a life rooted in purpose. Like so many others, my journey here has been layered and transformative. Over the years, I have purchased homes in Clayton County, raised two sons, supported our churches and schools, navigated career changes, launched businesses, endured the economic shock of 2008, and experienced seasons of both rebuilding and renewal.
Through it all, Clayton County has been a constant.
I am deeply grateful for the people, neighborhoods, institutions, and support systems that make this community special. Clayton is rich with resilient families, committed leaders, and everyday neighbors who care. It is a place of history, heart, and unrealized potential—and I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.
Professionally, my connection to Clayton County has grown alongside my personal one. From 2019 to 2025, I had the honor of serving as the Clayton County Board of Commissioners’ Real Estate Broker and Land Acquisitions Specialist, working closely with county leadership on property strategy, land acquisition, and community-focused development. That role gave me a front-row seat to the challenges and the opportunities shaping our future—and it deepened my commitment to responsible growth, stewardship, and equitable revitalization.
Come Home to Clayton was created as a love letter and a call to action.
This platform exists to share the stories that too often go untold—stories of people, places, redevelopment, culture, and possibility. Through writers, photographers, videographers, creatives, and technologists, my hope is to energize and engage you with the Clayton County I know and love, while shining a light on where we are headed next.
My prayer is that this space informs you, inspires you, and improves your quality of life in some meaningful way—and that in return, you’ll engage, subscribe, and become part of the conversation.
Because community is the language of love.
Join the movement as we continue to Live, Work, and Thrive—together—in Clayton County.
With gratitude,
